Marshfield man accused of stealing car and setting it on fire on Duxbury beach – Boston News, Weather, Sports

MARSHFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) – A Marshfield man is facing charges after authorities say he stole a car from a gas station and set it on fire on Duxbury Beach.

Aidan Boyle, 19, was arrested Thursday and charged with nighttime breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, theft of a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of property.

Marshfield Police, who assisted the Duxbury Police Department in the investigation of the fire in the vehicle, determined after interviewing the owner of the vehicle registered in Marshfield that the vehicle was parked at a service station overnight and stolen.

“Marshfield Police received multiple alarms from the same service station during the investigation,” police said in a statement. “Upon arrival, it was determined that the business had been broken into and the suspect had stolen cash and several cartons of cigarettes just prior to officer arrival.”

According to authorities, security camera footage shows “a suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gloves and ski mask taking the above-mentioned vehicle from the rear parking lot early in the night. “The suspect returned approximately 2 hours later, entered the building and stole money and cigarettes.”

During the investigation, an officer observed a suspect matching the description of the individual captured on security footage. The man, identified as Boyle, was carrying “a black hooded sweatshirt, gloves, a balaclava, a large amount of cash and several cartons of cigarettes.”

Boyle was arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Thursday.
