Victim identified in early morning shooting in Georgetown Co.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Georgetown County District Attorney has released the name of the victim in a deadly shooting that occurred over the weekend.

Javon Seward, 30, of Andrews, died in what the medical examiner ruled a homicide. He was shot at the gas station and died later at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Hezekiah Wilson, 24, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime following a shooting that left one person dead early Sunday morning.

Deputies said they found a man, identified as Seward, suffering from a gunshot wound around 1 a.m. at Shaw’s Corner Store on Martin Luther King Drive. The man was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after 2 a.m.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102.

Wilson was sent to the Georgetown County Detention Center.

Seward’s body will undergo an autopsy at MUSC on Wednesday.
